$3,000,000.00 Recovery for a married construction worker (plaintiff/client). The client’s motor-vehicle accident resulted in quadriplegia due to cargo falling from an 18 wheeler on Highway 74 in Anson County, North Carolina. Plaintiff was driving at night when his vehicle was passed by an 18-wheeler transporting poultry cages. One of the cages fell from the 18-wheeler onto the roof of our client’s car, crushing the plaintiff’s spine. The plaintiff’s attorney retained multiple experts who determined that the defendant’s trucking company and the truck driver failed to properly and adequately secure its load. They found the defendant company’s cargo restraint system was outdated, rusted, and in disrepair. Defendants paid a $3 million settlement before trial.
$2,000,000.00 In this case, settlement recovery is on behalf of a young man (plaintiff/client) from Charlotte, North Carolina. The plaintiff was rear-ended and killed in a car versus tractor-trailer truck accident in New Mexico. Investigation revealed that the tractor-trailer truck parked, without any lights turned on, in the travel lane of Interstate 40. The driver of the 18-wheeler had little to no experience without further adequate training. The plaintiff’s attorney filed a lawsuit in the Federal Court of New Mexico. The case settled for the full policy limits of following a seven-hour mediation before a federal judge.
$1,900,000.00 A father (plaintiff/client) of four sustained a brain injury due to a collision with an uninsured vehicle. Retained by the plaintiff’s attorney, vocational experts, and an economist consulted on the case. The defendant’s insurance company made a top offer of $600,000 on the arbitration day, which the client and his attorney rejected. After a hearing in front of an arbitration panel, the panel awarded the plaintiff $1,900,000.
